The Belle Harbor Yacht Club
As a member, the club is available to you and your family free of charge for your private catered events. Ask for the Banquet Manager, Margaret to book your party. The Club provides reasonable bar packages for your event. Catering is provided by Ludwig's Caterers at a 10% discount to BHYC members for off-premise orders. Since we share our facility with Ludwig's, outside caterers are not permitted for private parties. The B.H.Y.C. is managed by the Board of Directors that are elected by the members at the Clubs Annual Membership Meeting in December. The Board is empowered to make all the day-to-day business decisions for the club. Actions that affect property rights must be voted by the membership. The Commodore is the social chairman and our spokesperson. Additionally, there are other officer and subcommittee chair positions, as well as board members at-large. All members are eligible and encouraged to participate in club management or to volunteer for subcommittees, such as tennis, membership and member work projects. The Belle Harbor Yacht Club is a member owned, not-for-profit organization. There are several levels of membership. Those members with ownership rights are known as Proprietary Members. All members are eligible to become Proprietary members by being full-dues paying members in good standing for five consecutive years. Introductory membership at $250 per year (for two years maximum) does not qualify towards Proprietary membership. Those members who are paying full dues, currently at $350 (+tax) per year, but have not attained the five consecutive years, are Associate members. Associate members vote in the election of the Board of Directors but not on property rights issues. Introductory members have no voting privileges. Proprietary membership is not deeded or transferable. All proprietary membership rights terminate upon resignation, death or failure to maintain membership in good status. The Constitution and By-Laws of the Belle Harbor Yacht Club fully describe membership rights and responsibilities. Members are notified about official functions and major upcoming events by periodic mailings. To save postage and the large effort required to issue a mailing, many announcements are made by e-mail. Therefore, I encourage you to send me an e-mail to JMcCann42@aol.com and I will add your name to the e-mail list. I am also available to answer your questions by e-mail. So, now all you have to do is join the fun. If you wish to become a member, contact a existing member of the club for sponsorship.
